A security review of the biometric passport

Prof. Dr. Bart Jacobs

(Radbout Universiteit Nijmegen, NL)

Abstract:

Many countries are currently introducing a biometric passport with a chip that contains
at this stage a facial scan of the passport holder, and at a later stage also fingerprints.
The regulations and technology involved will be discussed and reviewed in
this talk, including the relevant protocols for authentication and secure transmission.
The passport will be presented as part of the wider setting of identity management.
